Miami-based producer CEDRIC GERVAIS’ remix of Lana Del Rey’s shimmering and soaring “Summertime Sadness” (Lana Del Rey vs Cedric Gervais) has landed him his first-ever GRAMMY Award nomination in the category of “Best Remixed Recording (Non-Classical).” It’s a well-deserved honor as “Summertime Sadness” remains a highlight of 2013, enchanting dance floors and radio airwaves worldwide to this day. The 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards airs live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday January 26, 2014 on CBS at 8PM ET.
The song impressively reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 (a first for Lana Del Rey as well). It also topped Billboard’s Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart, clinching the #1 spot for five weeks, #2 on the Dance/Electronic Songs Chart, #3 on the Dance/Electronic Digital Songs Chart and #3 Mainstream Top 40 airplay.
Worldwide, the track has generated over 4 million single sales, going platinum in North America, the U.K. and Australia. Moreover, it ascended to #1 on HYPEM, in addition to being Shazam’s #1 track in the U.S., U.K., and Australia. For five weeks, it was the most-aired dance song on Top 40 radio stateside. At Beatport, the song achieved the #1 spot for a staggering seven weeks, while it held strong in the Top 100 for seven months. To date, its video has racked up over 18 million views on the Spinnin’ Records video channel and another 26 million views on its official page. Meanwhile, Soundcloud plays exceed 1.8 million. GEDRIC GERVAIS’ peers have responded in a big way as well. It continues to receive overwhelming DJ support from the likes of such heavy hitters as Tiësto, Armin Van Buuren, Pete Tong and Paul Oakenfold, just to name a few.
CEDRIC GERVAIS has been DJing and producing electronic music since his teens and was the youngest artist to ever play at Paris’ famed nightclub Le Queen. Today he resides in Miami, FL and has been a staple of the South Beach club scene, holding residencies at Liv and Story in Miami as well as at the Wynn’s Surrender and XS in Las Vegas while DJing around the world. His last successful chart single was “Molly”—one of 2012’s most commercial dance songs—which landed at #26 on U.K. charts and has racked over 4.3 million YouTube views. Lana Del Rey has become one of the most exciting and captivating artists in the world, having already sold over five million albums and seven million singles, including her recent release “Young And Beautiful” taken from the soundtrack of the hit movie The Great Gatsby.
