Tiken Jah Fakoly is a reggae singer from Cote d’lvoire. His music came out of concern for the social and political evolution of his country, he plays music “to wake up the consciences”. Additionally it address injustices and oppression that Fakoly has seen in his native Ivory Coast. Tiken Jah is lovingly and often referred to as ‘The Bob Marley of Africa’ for his impressive musical career and influence on the genre.
Tiken Jah Fakoly has worked with Steel Pulse, Didier Awadi, Bernard Lavilliers, Dub Incorporation and Amadou & Miriam among others. His shows are not to be missed.
He plays next 19th of August at SOB’s and the next day at Summerstage in Central Park at 3:00PM.
