Yesterday Pitchfork unveiled their Top 100 Tracks of 2011 to the public, giving a glimpse on what their music staff thought was the best music in the year. M83 landed on the list twice! M83 is led by Anthony Gonzalez from Antibes, a town nestled between Nice and Cannes.
For the first mention on the list, M83 reached was #56 with the first track of Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, “Intro” featuring Zola Jesus. Larry Fitzmaurice noted on Pitchfork, “M83 have been opening their shows with this one, and it’s possible that there will never be a suitable replacement for the rest of the project’s existence.”
For the second, Anthony Gonzalez and Co. achieved the most coveted recognition of the top track of 2011! Brandon Stosuy writes on the website why “Midnight City” carried away Pitchfork’s accolades, “The parallels are there, from the instantly memorable riff to the gentle sense of longing, but “Midnight City” feels like a song destined to move and change as it continues into the future. ”
